JobFit Privacy Policy
JobFit is a Chrome extension that analyzes supported job posting pages and compares them with a user-saved profile. This policy explains what JobFit reads, what it stores, how it uses that information, and what choices users have.
1. What JobFit does
JobFit reads supported job posting pages in the browser, normalizes the posting into a consistent structure, and displays an on-page analysis panel and local fit score. The extension also provides an options page where users can save profile preferences such as target roles, skills, domains, regions, and remote-work preferences.
As of this policy's effective date, JobFit supports the following job-board domains:
LinkedIn (linkedin.com), Indeed (indeed.com,
indeed.co.uk, indeed.ca), Glassdoor
(glassdoor.com), Wellfound (wellfound.com), ZipRecruiter
(ziprecruiter.com), Greenhouse (greenhouse.io), and Lever
(jobs.lever.co). This list may change in future versions of the extension.
2. Information JobFit reads
JobFit's content script is loaded on pages within the supported domains listed above. On each page load, JobFit reads the page URL and may inspect limited page metadata or page structure to determine whether the page is a recognized job posting. If the page is not a supported job posting, JobFit does not perform job-field normalization or scoring, and only a minimal unsupported-page snapshot may be stored locally.
On supported job posting pages, JobFit may read the following information:
- Page URL
- Job title
- Company name
- Location and workplace type
- Employment type when present
- Salary information when present
- Apply method and application URL
- Benefits information when present
- Requirements and qualifications
- Skills and technologies mentioned in the posting
- Job description content needed for extraction and local scoring
JobFit may also store information entered by the user in the options page, including:
- Target roles
- Total years of experience
- Skills and domains
- Summary text
- Preferred regions
- Remote-work preference
- Language preference
3. How JobFit uses information
JobFit uses the information above only to provide its visible user-facing features:
- Detect supported job posting pages
- Extract normalized job fields from those pages
- Render the in-page diagnostics panel
- Compute a local fit score against the saved profile
- Show the most recent parser snapshot in the options page
4. Where information is stored
JobFit stores data in chrome.storage.local on the user's device. At the time
of writing, JobFit stores:
- The user's saved profile
- The most recent analysis snapshot captured from a supported page
JobFit's own code does not transmit stored profile or analysis data to any developer-operated server or third-party service. However, data stored locally on the device is subject to the user's browser configuration, operating system access controls, and any other software installed on the device.
5. Third-party services
JobFit does not include third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting libraries in its normal extension runtime.
6. Sharing and selling
JobFit does not sell user data. JobFit does not transfer user data to third parties for advertising, analytics, profiling, or data brokerage purposes.
7. Retention and deletion
The saved user profile remains in local extension storage until the user clears it from the options page or removes the extension.
The most recent analysis snapshot remains in local extension storage until it is replaced by a newer snapshot or the extension is removed. There is currently no separate in-product control to clear only the snapshot.
Data stored in local extension storage persists across extension updates and is deleted when the extension is uninstalled.
8. Security
JobFit stores data using Chrome's built-in extension storage API
(chrome.storage.local). This storage is not end-to-end encrypted by the
extension. Physical or OS-level access to the device may allow access to stored data.
JobFit does not implement additional encryption or access-control measures beyond what
Chrome provides.
9. Chrome Web Store limited use disclosure
JobFit's use of web page content and user-entered profile data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
- Single purpose. JobFit uses read data solely to provide its stated functionality: local job posting analysis and profile matching.
- No selling. JobFit does not sell user data.
- No transfer for unrelated purposes. JobFit does not transfer user data to third parties for purposes unrelated to the extension's stated functionality.
- No use for creditworthiness. JobFit does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending, housing, insurance, or employment eligibility decisions.
10. Permissions
JobFit currently uses the following Chrome extension permissions:
- storage to save the user's profile and the most recent analysis snapshot locally
- host permissions to load the content script on supported domains and extract job fields from recognized posting pages
- activeTab to grant temporary access to the active tab when the user opens the extension popup so the popup can display the current page URL
11. Children's privacy
JobFit is not directed to children under 13. The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the extension, please contact us so we can address it.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when JobFit's functionality or data practices change. The updated version will be posted at the same public URL with a revised effective date. Users are encouraged to review this page periodically.
